COONLEY ANTIRACISM GROUP

The Coonley Antiracism Group started in 2020 because many in our community were active in supporting the Black Lives Matter movement and expressed interest in increasing conversation, understanding, and action to continue to strengthen an antiracist school environment. We would like to invite all parents and caregivers to join the discussion as part of our parent-led Coonley Antiracism Group.

WHY WE EXIST

In order to work towards fighting systemic racism, we acknowledge the work that needs to be done is active and intentional, especially in Chicago. In order to address bias, racism, and white supremacy within the Coonley community and school, we strive for our families and our children to be actively antiracist.

OUR GOAL

Our goal is to engage with the Coonley community by focusing on naming and dismantling white supremacy through continued education and conversations around white privilege, social justice action, and the intentional creation of an inclusive and affirming school community. We focus on equipping Coonley families to be change agents for diversity, equity, and inclusion in their homes and other spheres of influence.
