NO PLACE FOR HATE
In January 2023, Coonley Elementary became a No Place for Hate school, a program from the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) to improve school climate through anti-bias and bullying prevention education. This student-led group involves Grades 5-8 signing the No Place for Hate pledge, and engaging in important conversations about bias and racism. Find out more at noplaceforhate.org and access helpful resources for students and educators.
FOLDED MAP PROJECTThe Coonley Antiracism Group is exploring the Folded Map Project. It was created by artist and Englewood native Tonika Johnson. Through her project she brings together "map twins" (people with similar addresses on the North and South sides of Chicago) to investigate segregation and its impact on our city and the residents.
Download the Folded Map Action Kit and explore your own map twin neighborhood. |
COMMUNITY SERVICEThe Coonley Antiracism Group volunteered with My Block, My Hood, My City in December to help residents decorate houses along King Drive with Christmas lights. Also every Tuesday you can volunteer to help with weekly grocery delivery for seniors in the area.
